Tenerife
Trip of 21-25 May 2004
Location: Parador Hotel, situated in the Teide (extinct !) volcano crater at over 7000ft above sea level.
Lat: 28° 15' 0" N, Long: 16° 35' 0" W
*** CLOUDY CLOUDY NIGHTS ***
Disaster - four out of four nights clouded over, with just a few small breaks, so very limited results, as below.
Present were Martin, Rob, Eddie & Nick
Pics were taken using a SBIG ST-10 XME on a Takahashi Sky 90, with focal reducer (e.f.l. 407mm), mounted on a Takahashi EM-200 USD 2 Temma mount. Exposures were guided. A SupaSlim 48 Wheel was used, with True Tech original (type 1) dichroic filters, and control was done using MaxIm CCD software.

Omega Centauri.. Would have liked longer to get this elusive object, but mainly due to the clouds rolling over, just about got enough material for a decent image. Eddie "Fingers" Guscott worked his magic on the processing, as on the other images below

Centaurus A. Looks tiny in this field. If we had had good weather (ie time) we would have used a barlow rather than a focal reducer !!!!

Comet Neat. We also managed to see (just) comet Linear just above the horizon, at dusk on 24'th may, but no chance to get any pics.
Despite the lack of images, it was a most enjoyable trip, and we had some beautiful H-Alpha views on Sunday 23'rd may, using Martin's AP Traveller plus DOUBLE-STACKED Coronado Solarmax 40 filters (Martin's + mine), with the Baader giant bino-viewer. We could see 3D prominences coming out , ie not from the edge, but inside, and then traversing the edge of the photosphere - truly awesome.
THAT'S ALL FOLKS !
