True Technology RGB and CMY imaging filters are available in 1.25" and 48mm versions, to complement our Custom-Wheel, Filter-Finder and micro-filter units. The dichroic filters have a very high transmission efficiency (well over 90%), and standard sets include a IR-Blocking filters, and a clear glass filter, the latter being for par-focal monochrome images (eg for use in LRGB work)
The CMY filters are slightly faster than the RGB ones, but with a slight degredation of signal to noise ratio. However, it is much harder to balance colour results using CMY filters, than it is with RGB, so the latter are recommended unless it is imperative that speed of acquisition is of primary importance (eg in planetary work, where a difference of, say, 10msec, could make the difference between an exceptionally sharp image and a merely passable one.
In addition to the RGB and CMY filter sets, we have an IR-Transmission filter (non-dichroic), and a 10% transmission neutral density filter for lunar imaging, to prevent overload of a CCD camera, even at the shortest eposure.
A. RGB filter set, 1.25", which also includes a clear-glass filter for par-focal LRGB work, and an IR-Blocking filter.
B. Test picture taken in normal daylight, using a 50mm lens on a Starlight Xpress MX516 CCD camera, with a micro-filter unit between. Image acquisition and processing was done using MaxIm CCD. This image gives a very accurate rendition of true colour using True Technology filters.
