** BACKGROUND AND DISCLAIMER **

True Technology began importing the excellent range of Takahashi instruments in 1997 and up till the start of the recent recession was the sole authorised Distributor for UK and the Republic of Ireland. Since the recession other authorised dealers have been appointed. We advised prospective customers to note carefully the prices of those offering Takahashi products. The prices of the authorised dealers will not be too dissimilar, but if you find someone with prices which are significantly cheaper then be aware that (unless they are an authorised dealer making a special offer on a selected item) they cannot be an authorised dealer. There are one or two such traders, trying to appear 'authentic'. They obtain products from either the USA, the Far East (eg Hong Kong, and definitely NOT Takahashi Japan), or occasionally through a similar unauthorised source in mainland Europe (usually Germany). You should note and check the following before purchasing any Takahashi product from one of these traders:

1. Ask them if they are an authorised dealer

2. Ask them where they procure their products from

3. Ask them how they handle warranty - be very careful about any replies to this

4. Ask them for their VAT number - if they don't have one or say that 'the application is in or pending' again be very careful. You can also check if a false VAT number is quoted

You should also note that, should you procure a Takahashi product from any such trader, do not expect either True Technology or any authorised dealer to provide any support whatever, especially warranty support which is void
