Vari-Extender (Order code TKA00540) connection

The main barlow element (Extender lens) is attached to the back-plate of FS78/102/128 by standard M43 extension tubes, and converts to a T-thread on the output, so that t-thread extension tubes or a standard T-Ring may be attached. T-Rings are available for most types of  35mm film camera, and a M42 T-Ring can be used to attach CCD cameras having the M42 thread on the faceplate. CCD cameras with a T-thread on the faceplate can attach directly to the barlow element or extension tubes.

With only the standard barlow element installed and no extension tubes, the magnification is increased by 1.6x, rising to 4.8x with 7 extension tubes (first row of data)

With the optional optical doubler attachment (Order code  TKA00593) screwed infront of the standard barlow element, the magnification range is from 2.3x to 5.5x (second row of data)

With no doubler attachment, but with a diagonal prism inserted (visual operation) the magnification range is 2.5x to 5.7x (third row of  data)

Note that the vari-extender is for use with f/8 instruments. For shorter focal length instruments such as the Sky 90, FS60C and FSQ106, use the extender-Q, which has a more powerful barlow element to achieve similar range of  magnifications when configured as above.
