****** VISUAL SUPASLIM MANUAL FILTER WHEEL *****

With the increasing use of visual filters, as more types become available, and the increasing popularity of binocular viewers, it is highly desirable to find a solution for quick and easy changes of either a specific filter between different types of  eyepiece, or  to use different filters with one eyepiece.  The True Technology SupaSlim filter wheel, especially in the manual version, is ideal for this purpose. At only 21mm thick, and with low profile coupling adapters, it is easily integrated into your visual system.  There is a  choice of  either a 5-way internal wheel which can take standard 48mm filters, or  a  8-way wheel  which can take 1.25" filters.

A. Standard 'straight-through' solution, using a 1.25" push-fit barrel on the SupaSlim wheel.  The wheel disk is only 21mm wide, and in the above image is plugged into a 2" focuser using a low profile adapter.

B. As in A, except with a 1.25" diagonal prism in use

C. We have a long 2" push-fit barrel (internal depth 1.5" (38mm) for using large 2" eyepieces, such as Naglers

D. This shows a high quality binocular viewer with integrated diagonal, connected via a low profile 2" push-fit barrel (internal depth 0.8" (20mm))

E. An even lower profile solution to connect the binocular viewer, using a T-thread adapter with lock ring. In this solution the distance between the side of  the wheel housing and the front of  the diagonal prism is around 8-9mm only.

H. Open wheel housing with internal disk removed. A great feature of  the True Technology range of  Custom-Wheels is the ability to remove complete filter disks without disturbing the telescope, focuser or eyepiece (or imaging device). Thus one can clean or change filters, or even substitute an alternative internal disk.

I. 8-way disk with 8 x 1.25" filters. The disks are mounted on a stainless steel shaft which rotates in phosphor-bronze bushes. The periphery of  the disk has 'V' indents and a spring plunger mounted in the wall of  the wheel-housing ensures precise registration of  each filter.

I. 5-way disk with 5 x 48mm filters. Note this view shows the hand-knob (also shown in images A..E), and the knob has a white line pointing towards the brass catch on the wheel housing, when in 'filter number 1' position. It is easy to 'count the clicks' from the number 1 position to any desired filter number.

For short focus instruments, and for all applications where 2" eyepieces are used, we recommend using 48mm filters.  for long focus instruments where only medium and high powers are required with 1.25" eyepieces, then 1.25" filters should suffice but take care if  you use a binocular viewer.
